The Hicksville Kiwanis Club was started in 1936 by a group of concerned citizens who wished to help the youth in the area. They originally met at the Milleridge Inn every Tuesday for Lunch. The club currently meets at Tesoros Restaurant in Westbury on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.
The last mmeting of the Kiwanis year was held on September 21st. Our president, past president and secretary were honored by the outgoing Lieutenient Governor Julia Salat.
In July we held our annual Christmas in July collection of can goods and donations for the local food banks.
In October the club is holding its annual Charter Night and Installation of Officers on October 12th. We are having and a Garage Sale at 404 Jerusalem Ave to support our ongoing endeavors. This is to be held on October 23rd.
On November 18th we, along with the Key Club, will gather turkies to be distributed to the needy. On November 20th we will hold our annual Pancake Breakfast at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church to honor various food banks in the area. We hope your Thanksgiving will be happy and joyous.
On December 7th the club will hold its annual Holiday Meeting with the Key Club. We hope you enjoy your Holiday
Events in 2012 will include the Three Kings Celebration on January 6th and the drawings for the Luck of the Irish in March. In May we will participate in Hicksville's Memorial Day Parade. In June we follow this up with our second Garage sale and our annual Scholarship Dinner.
